This month, I proudly celebrate 21 years in the real estate industry—two decades of dedication to helping individuals and families buy, sell, and invest in Texas real estate. What started in 2004 as a bold career move has grown into something far greater than I ever imagined: a thriving real estate business, a successful coaching company, and a team of nearly 20 agents working under the Red Hawk Property Team powered by JLA Realty.
The Beginning: A Leap of Faith into Real Estate
After serving as a Director at the YMCA, I felt called to a new path. Like many who enter the world of real estate, I was inspired by a personal experience. The REALTOR® who helped my wife, Laurie, and me purchase our first home, Earl Hale, casually mentioned that he thought I’d make an excellent agent. Those words stayed with me. Not long after, I took the leap and joined a local brokerage.
From REALTOR® to Real Estate Leader and Coach
Early success in residential real estate sales led to opportunities in leadership. I’ve had the privilege of serving in management and coaching roles with some of the largest brokerages in the Greater Houston area. By 2010, I fully embraced coaching—helping other real estate agents maximize their potential and achieve sustainable growth.
In 2017, I launched Red Hawk Coaching, a business dedicated to coaching real estate agents and small business owners. The mission was simple: to provide personalized guidance that empowers professionals to thrive in any market.
Building a Real Estate Team with Purpose
What began as a solo venture has evolved into the Red Hawk Property Team powered by JLA Realty—a collaborative, high-performing group of nearly 20 REALTORS® serving buyers and sellers across Texas. What’s even more special is that this team includes a partnership with a former “competitor,” now turned ally in building something meaningful.
Our team’s focus is on delivering exceptional real estate experiences and creating a supportive environment where agents can grow through mentorship, accountability, and education.
What 21 Years in Real Estate Has Taught Me
The most important lesson? Stick with it—even when it’s hard. Real estate is a business of persistence, adaptability, and grit. The market changes, challenges arise, but those who stay consistent and keep showing up are the ones who thrive.
